A content manager is a skilled freelancer (or full-time employee if you’re into that kind of thing) who manages all of the content that goes into online marketing. Some content managers only schedule content on your various platforms, and others—like me—do a little bit of everything. In my case, I help with every step of the way from writing the content to making sure it’s distributed online to land in front of your ideal audience.
Content managers are often confused with social media managers, but we do the same things. I do everything a social media manager does, but also handle the rest of your content as well, including blogs, articles, courses, websites and more.

Each retainer includes a monthly meeting where we talk about what’s coming up for your business. We make a plan for what we will talk about, how it supports the business and connects with the audience on a monthly basis.
After long enough working together, this becomes a content strategy. We develop content pillars over time and eventually things fall into a rhythm your audience can count on.

I live in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and work with clients across Canada. I do not currently work with clients outside of Canada outside of agencies. Please get in touch for the names of the agents I work with across the border.

No. I don't have a minimum monthly contract for my retainers. However, all retainers are required to give me a month notice before ending their retainer.
Example: A client looking to wrap up their contract at the end of December would need to let me know no later than November 1st. All retainers are billed at the beginning of the month, so the notice would be based on 30-days ahead of when you want to receive your final invoice.

If you’ve gotten this booking page, it’s because you’ve passed several checks ahead of booking your call. And I value transparency and communication in all things, so here is a breakdown of what you can expect.
Depending on the skillset you need, you can expect a rate of $85-$150 (with retainers on the lower end of the scale because the reward for being consistent is not getting charged for all the back-and-forth that comes with consulting.)
My 6 hour retainer is $500 + HST per month and my 12 hour retainer is $1000 + HST per month.
Before you ask: The reason it’s significantly lower than hiring a social media manager with only a part of the skillset is because it’s based on hours used. If you use more hours, you’ll be charged for those hours.
So people who want a general presence online with static post images and minimal blogs/newsletters can get skilled assistance at a rate that feels comfortable to them. And people who want blogs, newsletters, video capture and editing and more get the value they want for the hours it takes to execute an advanced strategy.
During your meeting, we will talk about all the things you would like me to take off your plate and I will give you an assessment of what can be completed in each retainer option.

The first months we work together, things take longer. Especially if you don’t have things set up. But once we’ve been working together for awhile, my averages look like this:
Blog drafting, editing, posting: 1-1.5 hours (More technical research heavy writing is closer to 2 hours.)
Blog editing and posting: 30 min to an hour
Newsletter drafting, editing, graphics and scheduling: 1-1.5 hours
Social media with templates: 15-30 minutes per post
Basic Video: edited into reels, no captions, minor edits: 30 min per reel
Advanced Video: edited into reels with generated and edited captions, editing out faults in speech, regulating sound and cleaning up file: 30-50 min per edit depending on quality of content for both input and expected output.
All other tasks vary a little too widely to give estimates. These are all based on the most general estimates. The quality of work always depends on how much time is spent on it, so a decision needs to be made about where you want to allocate your time each month. And if you have a budget to go over on time.
Generally, if it’s going to go just a little over, I will borrow from the next month’s time so you can count on a monthly budget. If it will go over, I will get in touch to find out if the project should be pushed to the next month or if the budget can be found for more hours.

My retainer clients all have access to my Friday travel-day. I do not book studio work on this day, so I’m free to travel up to 25 minutes from my home base in Dartmouth to do video-capturing for clients.
Retainer clients only use hours for when we’re actively working on their video capturing. So they do not use hours for me to travel to locations. This perk is available once a month for 6 hour retainers and twice a month for 12 hour retainers. It does not roll over. And it’s available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Event capturing is available for 12 hour retainers only and is available for up to 2 hours per event. Travel time is deducted for travel outside of the 25 minute radius.
